Makeup Look: Burgundy Smokey Eyes

I created this makeup look using mostly new products. I recently bought a bunch of new makeup to try and what better way to do it than creating a makeup look using all of them!

I really like the way it turned out so here I'm showing you how to recreate this look.

For the face, I used my Revlon Skin Matching Makeup and Cover Girl Clean Pressed Powder in Warm Beige.

This is the eye makeup that I came up with using my BeautyUK Palette in no. 6 which I got on sale  for only P199.00 from Ms. Avi of https://www.facebook.com/MakeupStashByAvi
Here are the steps to create this look.

1. Prime the lids with any primer that you have.  I used my Urban Decay Primer Potion in Greed.

2. Take a small shader brush and pat this color all over the lids leaving a tiny part of the inner lids empty of color. Blend the color up to the crease.

3. With the same brush, place this eyeshadow on the outer part of the lids. Blend the two colors very well. Then, take a pencil brush and use the same color to line the outer part of your lower lashline.

4. Use any black eye pencil that you have and tightline your eyes, also line your waterline. Set the liner with a black eyeshadow. Then, take a pencil brush and use the black e/s to darken the outer corner of your lids and blend everything using a clean blending brush. Apply a little bit of the black e/s on your lower lashline as well.

5. Highlight your inner corners and browbone with this eyeshadow.

6. Curl your lashes and apply mascara. Add false lashes if you want to.

7.Contour your face and apply a light coral blush.

8. On my lips I used Natasha Beauty Lush Lips in Bouquet.

Makeup Look: Dramatic Navy Eyes

I've always been scared of blue eyeshadow. I don't know why.. There's something really intimidating about it. It's like wearing a jacket on a hot summer day, it just doesn't feel right. But as an aspiring makeup artist, I have to learn how to make a blue eyeshadow work. I have to find ways to make it look good on me, if not, on somebody else.

I bought a palette last Christmas that to my surprise, actually contains this beautiful navy eyeshadow. But, I didn't use it until now. Then I thought to myself, somehow I need to face my fears right?

So today, I decided to create a navy smokey eyes to see if it's going to look good on me. I have to admit that light colors are not my thing, I prefer dark eyeshadow.. I used navy, black and a little bit of a matte sky blue on the eyes and I was really happy with the outcome. I never thought I would end up liking it.

Here are the steps in creating this look:

1. Use any black eye pencil of your choice as base for all the colors that you're going to put in your lids. Keep the color below the crease. Take this color on the outer part of your lower lash line too.

2.  With your finger or a fluffy blending brush, blend the liner up your crease. Try to keep the shape of the color rounded.

3. Take a shimmery navy eyeshadow a place it on your lids. Don't sweep it to avoid fallout. Blend very well with a clean blending brush. You can do this step again, it's called sandwiching - place the color then blend.

4. With an eyeshadow that is closest to your skin-tone, use this to blend the color on your crease. This will create a beautiful gradient effect.

5. With a flat shader brush, take a matte black eyeshadow and place this on the outer part of your lids creating an outer V. Blend the color very well. Apply this color on your lower lash line too.

6. With the black pencil that you used earlier, line you lash line then use an angled brush with the same black eyeshadow and set the pencil. You can also blend it upward for a more smokey effect.

7. This matte sky blue eyeshadow goes to the inner crease. Don't take this color on the lids.

8. Dust a little bit of  a matte white eyeshadow on your brow bone.

9. Pop a shimmery white eyeshadow on your inner corners and inner lower lash line for a highlight.

10. Tightline your upper lash line and line lower lashline with a black eyeliner then set with a black eyeshadow.

11. Curl your lashes and apply mascara. You can use false lashes too if want. It will make this look more dramatic.

12. Apply blush and a nude lipstick to finish the look.
